Hockey fans everywhere mourned the loss of the NHL season this year because of disputes. For the die-hards a winter without hockey is unthinkable. If you’re coming to Grand Rapids – or live here – you are in luck! Because we are the home of the best minor league hockey team around.
The Grand Rapids Griffins season opens this Friday, October 12th at Van Andel Arena. And they are starting things off with a bang. The first 5,000 fans will get a glow stick and if you get to the game early, you will be treated to an extended pre-game show and see the team introduced for its 17th season.
Every Friday night throughout the season, as usual, it is dollar beers and dollar hotdogs from 6-8pm. And if you sit in the D-Zone you get served in your seat. Beers, hotdogs and you don’t have to get out of your seat? Who wouldn’t love that? You have to get your seats early because they are limited. Order tickets for the D-Zone here.
All season long you can enjoy several ticket specials. For select games, get four tickets and $12 in concession cash for a great price depending on whether your purchase upper or lower bowl tickets. Opening night is one of those games and you can find other dates here. Also, every home game this season, military can purchase up to four upper bowl tickets for $13 each with a valid military ID. The offer also extends to veterans who present a VA ID or discharge papers.
Also throughout the season, bring your own skates and you will be able to enjoy an open skate after the game courtesy of J&H Family Stores. Check out the schedule for when those will be. Opening night the players will also be on hand for autographs after the game courtesy of Huntington Bank.
It will be a season not to miss. Will you be there?
