Sure, stand-up comedy has a reputation for being raunchy and adults-only, but LaughFest 2012 features plenty of good clean fun for the whole family. You will not want to miss these 10 awesome kid-friendly events during LaughFest this year!
  1. Give the kiddos a clean taste of LaughFest at the free Student Art Showcase, featuring a gallery created by students of all ages in the theme of laughter. Check out the Student Art Showcase March 8-18 at MoDiv Shops on the corner of Monroe Center and Division Avenue.
  2. Enjoy the GRAM (Grand Rapids Art Museum) during LaughFest and see if the kids can find any thing peculiar or silly going on. The museum's wondrous art collection is featured in unusual ways for LaughFest's What's So Funny? at the GRAM. This one you definitely don't want to miss! Regular hours and admission rates to the GRAM do apply.
  3. Get your groove thang on with the little ones at Baby Loves Disco! Put on your dancing shoes March 9 & 10 at the BOB for a preschool dance party like no other. Real DJs spin disco tunes from the 70's and 80's, and there's even a bubble machine, diaper changing stations, healthy snacks and oh yeah DANCING! There's a 10:30am and 2pm party each day so that you don't have to miss naptime. General admission is $7 for kids and $10 for adults.
  4. On Saturday March 10 and 17 at 2pm be a part of The Surprising Story of the Three Little Pigs at the Grand Rapids Civic Theatre. This free event for families will take the classic tale and change their fate! Oooh, how will it end?!
  5. Presented by Meijer, the Super Saturday Kid Zone at the GRCC Ford Fieldhouse is where you will want to be on March 10 from 10am-2pm. There is no end to the fun with all the activities that await- including laser tag, face painting, an extreme obstacle course, slides and bounce houses. General admission is $7.
  6. Hear stories, participate in fun activities, and enter a funniest caption writing contest at the Grand Rapids public libraries March 10-17 for Don't Let the Pigeon Fall Down Laughing. These free events are perfect for your young readers and story tellers, and there's even prizes for each library's most amusing young author!
  7. How about some theatre? Written by Chicago school children, the arts education theatre ensemble Barrel of Monkeys performs "That's Weird, Grandm" at the St. Cecilia Music Center on March 13 at 10:00am & 1:00pm, and March 14 at 10am. General admission is $10.
  8. Tuesday March 13 is Kids Joke Night.Children in 5th grade and under are invited to tell their best jokes at the Grand Rapids Children Museum. Got little comedians in your house? Sign them up! Show starts at 6pm and admission is free.
  9. Jokes and riddles aren't the only things that make kids laugh. The free Dance Showcase at 7pm on March 14 at the Grand Rapids Ballet Peter Martin Wege Theatre features dancers of all ages and genres performing in ways that will surely bring a smile to every member of your family's faces.
  10. The family pet can even get in on the laughs at the GRCC Ford Fieldhouse on March 17 at 9am. Free for families and your animals if you have one, check out some seriously funny pets- there's contests, games, entertainment, giveaways and treats. Laugh on!
