Grand Rapids Ballet Summer Camps

The Grand Rapids Ballet's Young Dancer Summer Program puts kids ages 3-9 front and center. Choose from My Favorite Ballet Camp for ages 3-6 or Summer Workshops for ages 6-9. My Favorite Ballet Camp includes a daily 45-minute dance class, 15 minute snack and story time break, and 15 minutes of themed crafts. The Camp finishes with a mini-performance featuring choreography learned during the week.

If your budding ballerina is older, consider auditioning for the Grand Rapids Ballet Summer Intensive. This program, open to ballet students ages 9 – 19, allows them to study with stars from today’s ballet world. Admitted students receive training in ballet, contemporary, pointe, men’s jumps, as well as classical and contemporary variations. 

St. Cecilia Music Center Summer Camps

Looking for a really cool summer music gig? Then St. Cecilia Music Center's Rock Band Camp is just what you need. Kids form, market, rehearse and play in their own band - with a final performance at the Intersection. This camp is for ages 11-20 and runs June 26-30, 2016. Tuition $175 per person.

You'll also find Stella Royce Piano Camp for ages 7-14 at St. Cecilia's this summer. This piano camp focuses on the art of performing solo piano works as well as ensemble pieces composed by Hong-da Chin. Students will experience individual and ensemble lessons, theory and ear-training, music composition and music history and more. Camp runs from 8:40 am - 3 pm July 18 -22.

Summer Art Camps at the GRAM

Kids of all ages are encouraged to create and explore art through a variety of summer camps hosted at the Grand Rapids Art Museum. Week-long sessions, held from 9AM – 12PM, let campers explore the Museum’s galleries while participating in hands-on activities in the studio. Students will also learn collaborative problem solving through communication and creation.

Camps to look for:

  • Artful Discoveries & Adventures - Ages 4-6. Sessions feature a variety of creative techniques including printmaking, painting, and sculpture. June 20 - 24.

  • Illuminating Art & Science - Ages 4-6. What makes a rainbow? Do shadows play by rules? How do we see colors? Observe, experiment & create in this camp. July 18 - 22.
  • Illuminating Art & Science - Ages 7-9. What makes a rainbow? Do shadows play by rules? How do we see colors? Observe, experiment & create in this camp. July 25 - 29.
  • Bringing Ideas to Life - Ages 10-13. Experience Design Thinking in this session focused on creative problem solving. Collaborate to create functional art! August 1 - 5.

Downtown Market Simmer Camps

Get your kids cooking at one of the Downtown Market's Summer Simmer Camps! These themed three-day camps, geared toward kids ages 6-11, give them the chance to actively participate in creating their own food. Whether it's Baking 101, Roadtrip USA, Movie Meal Mayhem or Modern City Homesteading, you'll find a simmer camp to please your child's palate. 

Have a food allergy or dietary restriction to contend with? Not a problem! Indicate any dietary restrictions during the registration process and they will make appropriate accommodations for your child.

Grand Rapids Civic Theatre Arts Day Camps

The Grand Rapids Civic Theatre is a local point of pride in the Grand Rapids community. Established in 1925, the Grand Rapids Civic Theatre is one of the oldest and largest community theatres in the nation and it has a School of Theatre Arts to match!

In the summer, kids age 4 and up can attend Theatre Arts Day Camps staffed by experienced theatre professionals. During each week-long camp, kids experience many aspects of theatre and perform in a play at the end of the week. These camps sessions fill fast- sign up soon to get best selection.

Frederik Meijer Gardens Summer Camps

Meijer Gardens is at it again this summer, with a wide range of summer camps for all ages. Some camps are just one day long, while others are four or five-day camps.
