Snow Covered trees in Grand Rapids

Winter is officially here. And then some. If you are going stir crazy stuck inside, this weekend is the perfect weekend to get out and enjoy all the snow fun Grand Rapids has to offer. Here are three great ways to enjoy the snow in Grand Rapids:

  1. Cross Country Skiing: What a serene way to take in the beautiful trails that are tucked away throughout the city. Kent Trails or Donald Lamoreaux Park are great places to check out if you are a beginner. And if you don't have your own equipment check out Bill and Paul's which rents it out by the day.
  2. Pando Winter Sports Park: Pando is located just outside the city in Rockford. It is a blast for the whole family with skiing and snowboarding. But the best part of Pando is the tubing. They have six tubing runs complete with a rope pull. Adults will turn into kids again as they squeal soaring down the hill bouncing on a tube. Keep in mind that you must be 42 inches tall to ride the hill and only one person can be on a tube at a time. Great fun for the whole family!
  3. Cannonsburg Ski Area: Yes, Grand Rapids has its own ski slope. Very affordable and fun for all ages, Cannonsburg has 19 runs from beginner to advanced. If you are a newbie they have lessons available with a great weekend ski school for kids 5-12.

Best of all, close by all of these activities is an award-winning restaurant all the locals know about but very few tourists would find. Cozy up in Honey Creek Inn for some food just like your mom would have cooked after a day building snow forts in the yard. The perfect end to a wintry day.
