It is a great weekend to be downtown Grand Rapids. There is a lot going on whether you are a family, bar hopper, artist or foodie. Here are a few highlights:
- The Pyramid Scheme: If you like live music, a good crowd, and great drinks you will definitely want to check out the schedule at The Pyramid Scheme. Friday night Chicago imports The Steepwater Band will play some hard core rock and roll. Their opening act will be American Babies and doors open at 8pm. Show is 18 and up and tickets are $10 at the door. Saturday night, He We continues their first headlining tour. Joining them will be Windsor Drive, Deas Vail, and Carielle from Grand Rapids. Tickets are $14 at the door and this is an all ages show with doors opening at 6:00pm. Check out the Pyramid Scheme's website for all the details.
- La Boheme: Maybe rock and roll isn't your style. For more classical fans, Grand Rapids Opera presents La Boheme. They have clearly saved the best of the season for their last show. It is the most frequently produced opera in North America and inspired the musical and movie Rent. The opera house is gorgeous and the talent is superb. Don't miss this show. Tickets range from $29-$94 and the show begins at 7:30 pm. You can purchase tickets here.
- Fulton Street Farmer's Market: One of the best things about visiting Grand Rapids is all the farm to table restaurant options. The reason we have so many options is that we have a ton of great local farmers. Meet them up close and personal at the kick off of the Fulton Street Farmer's Market. Grab an amazing cup of coffee, check out the fresh fruits and veggies, nibble on some pastries and brighten up your day with a big bouquet. The market is open from 8 am- 3 pm. Find out what's in season on their website.
- Cinco De Mayo Fiesta: It is Cinco de Mayo time in Grand Rapids. And the Arena Distract is celebrating. From 4-10 pm on Saturday, anyone 21 and over can head over and enjoy a tequila and beer tent, food, salsa lessons and live music. Also Buffalo Wild Wings will be hosting a wings eating contest. Ionia Street will be blocked off from Fulton to Weston and $15 will get you in the party for the day. Ole!!
