One of the things both Grand Rapids’ locals and visitors enjoy is the variety of entertainment options around town. From $1 hot dogs at a baseball game to enjoying gumbo and jazz, here are a few of the many cool things you can do in Grand Rapids this week:
Monday, April 16: Jazz Gumbo at Kopper Top

Start your week off with Mary Rademacher-Reed, smooth jazz from the Great Gatsby Era, and a bowl of gumbo (or chili). The doors open at 6:00PM and music begins at 6:30.
Cost: $5 students, $10 for members, $15 for non-members, which includes both the entertainment and the gumbo or chili. Admission is free for non-members who join the WMJS at the event.
Monday – Thursday, April 16 – 19: Spy Kids 4 at the Celebration Cinema Flick Family Film Fest
Take your kids to the movies for free! During their Flick Family Film Fest, Celebration Cinema makes family fun super-affordable with free admission to classic family movies for kids 12 and under.
Cost: free for kids under 13; just $4 for kids and over, and adults
Wednesday, April 18: Lorax Fun!

If your kids like Truffula trees, don’t miss the fun at the following Kent District Library branches this week. In addition to making their very own Truffula trees, your kids will enjoy other activities and games celebrating Dr. Suess’ Lorax (and the new movie!)

Treat your family to a live performance of this classic Rodgers and Hammerstein musical about the Von Trapp family and their narrow escape from Nazi soldiers.
