A Tribute to Prince

With the passing of Prince on April 21, Grand Rapids musicians mourned, sharing the many ways his music and performances inspired them. Through this, a collaborative effort was born—to honor his memory by gathering some of the region’s best players to perform Prince’s songs in a tribute concert.

A total of 21 performers will take the stage. The Jim Shaneberger Band serves as the hosts with Jim Shaneberger playing guitar, bass and vocals;  Jeffrey Baldus on bass and vocals; and Steve Harris on drums and vocals.  Other musicians featured include vocalists: Matt Gross (Knee Deep Shag), Serita Crowley (Serita's Black Rose), Jeri Wade, Shaneé Laurent, Peggy Pip Keuning, Heather Dobrowolski Kuiper, Erika Thatcher, and Kevin Duemler (The Slick Willys).  Musical accompaniment comes from Lou Musa (The Verve Pipe) on guitar and vocals, Andrew Ogrodzinski (The Kinsey Report) on guitar, Craig Avery (Brena) on keyboards and vocals, Dave Sanders (Ultraviolet Hippopotamus) on keyboards and vocals, Craig Griffith (The Verve Pipe) on harmonica, Devin Weber (Devin and The Dead Frets) on guitar, Terrence Massey (Funktion) on trumpet, Dan Giacobassi on sax, Ed Spier on trombone, and Scott Kuizema on electronic drums, samples and percussion.
