Acorn Processing

Every fall, it's hard to miss the seeds of the Oak tree in Michigan. Unlike most nuts, the acorn has a large meat section and a relatively thin shell and with a little processing these once unpalatable nuts can be turn into delicious and extremely nutricious flour. Come to this 3 hour workshop to learn the basics of acorn processing. In this class students will learn the history of acorn processing, the basic processing method and some tricks of the trade. Additionally, there will be some acorn flour food products there to sample!

Luke McLaughlin is a teacher, mentor, ReWilder, survivalist, naturalist, and founder of Holistic Survival School located in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He has committed his life to mastering and teaching indigenous living skills in order to help people find their balance and connection to the Natural World. For the last 5 years, Luke has mentored hundreds of people in the wilderness and has witnessed first hand how nature connection helps bring about growth, health, and vitality to everyone's life. Luke believes that it is every humans birthright to have a deep physical, emotional, and spiritual connection to our Earth.
