After playing 60 shows in the last four months, the Grand Rapids-based band Desmond Jones (rock/funk/jazz fusion) has announced more than 20 tour dates for June and July. The band has recently played in Grand Rapids at Festival of the Arts and at The Intersection with groups like The Verve Pipe, The Outer Vibe, Here Come the Mummies, and many more.
In addition to the tour dates across the Midwest, the band will continue its free weekly residency on Monday nights at The Tip Top Deluxe Bar and Grill (760 Butterworth SW). The band has played every week since September with special guests from bands like The Outer Vibe, Fauxgrass and Mark Lavengood. There is no cover charge and music is from 9p.m.-1a.m. Desmond Jones will also perform at H.O.M.E (The B.O.B.) on June 30 at 12 p.m. for WYCE’s new GR Live radio show which will be streamed online and broadcast on 88.1 FM.
The band prides itself on high-energy performances that present the audience with a positive and fun experience. Every set and song is unique and comes from a catalog of over 55 original tunes. Described as "an up-and-coming band" by John Sinkevics from Local Spins, Desmond Jones is ready to hit the road and make some noise.
