Rakish Reeds Lake

oin local history enthusiast and author Gail Marie Snow as she shares stories from her new book Rakish Reeds Lake. In the 21st century, the mention of Reeds Lake in East Grand Rapids conjures images of wealth and refinement—its shores lined with beautiful homes and a yacht club. The lake's history, however, is both colorful and surprising. Snow's book explores everything from the early pioneer settlers to the problems that arose—liqueur, gambling, rowdy sports, drownings, and murder—when the lake became a popular leisure destination. Come see pictures and hear stories of Reeds Lake's unique history. A book signing will follow the presentation.
