Sr. Corita Kent and John August Swanson Exhibit

This fall the CIC is hosting an art exhibit from internationally-renowned artists, Sr. Corita Kent (1918-1986) and John August Swanson (1938-). Swanson’s art reflects the strong heritage of storytelling he inherited from his Mexican mother and Swedish father. Sr. Corita was a great influence in Swanson’s work when he studied with her at Immaculate Heart College. Along with her contemporaries, like Andy Warhol and Edward Ruscha, Sr. Corita Kent juxtaposed culture, politics and modern life into pop-art. Her art is now re-surfacing in many prominent galleries around the world. Most recently at the Harvard Art Museum, Yokohama Museum of Art in Japan, and Galerie Allen in Paris. The exhibit will be open during CIC business hours.
