Big news new addition to Education Center, opening in July 2003. The Center is comprised of two rooms, the Cabinet Room and the Michigan Room. The Cabinet Room is an exact recreation of the White House Cabinet Room, and will be a combination exhibit and classroom. They are currently making plans for an extensive education program and curriculum exploring presidential decision-making and power for use in this room. This will be geared toward middle and high school students.
Located downtown on the Grand River, this entertainment/education center features interactive history and natural science exhibitions. Visitors will marvel at the region's furniture-making heritage and culture of the American Indian. Ride a 1928 carousel and experience life a century ago in the Streets of Old Grand Rapids exhibit.
The Gardens offer science tours that can be scheduled. Special sculpture learning opportunities are also available. In addition to viewing the exhibitions, students are often offered educational activities such as foreign language tours, poetry writing workshops in response to the artwork and sketching.
GRAM offers docent led tour tours for children of all ages. The tours can be tailored to meet the needs of the group. They can also put together special art projects for groups.
The Zoo can set up special programs for groups given a couple of week's notice - private animal talks, tours, activities, meet a keeper etc.
