All of these Kent County campgrounds are secluded yet close enough to major thoroughfares to let you quickly get to local restaurants, attractions, nightlife, shopping and more – either in your own vehicle or via Lyft and Uber.

They’re also perfectly situated for you to explore all the outdoor recreation opportunities in Kent County – including biking/hiking, golf, fishing and boating!

Northeast

Duke Creek Campground is located in Cedar Springs, about 25 minutes from downtown GR, and offers 100+ camping sites and a few camping cabins, plus a heated pool, horseback riding and free wi-fi.

Cedar Springs RV Resort, also in Cedar Springs, is a “Good Sam Park” with 157 campsites on a 25-acre park, a sandy swimming beach on a private lake, kayak rentals, and playground.

Scalley Lake Campground is about 30 minutes from downtown GR on a private lake in Belding (20 minutes from charming downtown Rockford). Amenities include cabins, free wi-fi, swimming, and boat rentals.

Wabasis Lake Campground, roughly 30 minutes from downtown GR, features 78 modern and primitive sites plus six rental cabins and one lakefront cottage (weekly only). It’s located within Wabasis Lake Park, which includes more than one mile of shoreline on an excellent fishing lake. It’s also about 20 minutes from Rockford.

Northwest

Allendale/West Grand Rapids KOA Holiday, 30 minutes from downtown GR, offers RV sites, premium tent sites and deluxe cabins. There are lots of amenities for kids, including a pool, two playgrounds, three fishing ponds, a jump pad, and more.

Conestoga Grand River Campground, 30 minutes from GR, is situated on the Grand River, with deep water access to Lake Michigan, Grand Haven and Spring Lake. Choose from 100 grassy sites and enjoy the heated pool, game room, camp store, and kayak and canoe rental.

Southeast

Indian Valley Campground and Canoe Livery, about 30 minutes from downtown GR in Middleville (and 10 minutes from Caledonia), includes both modern and rustic campsites as well as an indoor pool, sandy beach, mini golf, fishing boats, camp store and more. Rent a canoe, kayak, paddle boat or tube to travel the beautiful Thornapple River.

Tyler Creek Golf Club & Campground is about 30 minutes from downtown GR and offers 200 modern and rustic campsites. Amenities include a nine-hole golf course, clubhouse with bar and grill, fishing pond/trout stream, swimming pool, ice cream shop and bounce house. It’s also 10 minutes from Caledonia – and just five minutes from Boulder Ridge Animal Park.

Southwest

Bazan Baldwin Oaks Family Campground welcomes motorhomes, trailers, pop-ups and tents to its Hudsonville location, about 25 minutes from downtown GR. Enjoy the heated pool, game room, volleyball court, basketball court, corn hole, playgrounds, horseshoe pits, shuffleboard and hayrides.

Chapel in the Pines Family Campground, also in Hudsonville, features 100 spacious sites and sandy beach, swimming and fishing lake, and gospel music barn. Both sunny and shady sites are available.

Hungry Horse Campground, 30 minutes from GR, includes 96 RV, tent and cabin sites spread out over 90 acres. Three swimming pools, playgrounds, a jumping pad, merry-go-round and hiking trails are just a few of the amenities in store for campers.

Woodchip Campground is about 20 minutes from downtown Grand Rapids in Byron Center (home of the mega-popular Tanger Outlet Mall). Woodchip’s 102 grassy, shaded camping sites, each with its own picnic table and fire pit, are just steps away from a pool, jumping pillow, basketball and volleyball courts, and more.

Steamboat Park Campground is an RV park roughly 20 minutes from downtown GR in Jenison. Situated on the Grand River – great for fishing and boating – it offers 107 full hook-up sites, a heated pool, boat ramp, wi-fi, and playground area.
