Bad timing to close off a section
It's great to be able to view popular, travelling exhibits, like Bodies Revealed (last year) and The Titanic (this year). Would've been a 5 star but on Easter weekend was not a good time to close off a section to update. Schools were out and families were out on the town and the furniture section was closed. What a huge disappoint.

Modern Beauty
What a beautiful building! It is worth the trip just to see the architecture. Always has some great exhibits. Location is really great - right across from Rosa Parks Circle and there is plenty to do around the museum. I love that it is not an overwhelmingly large space, making it easy to see everything you want to see. The staff is friendly and helpful. Great place to take in some art!

Very nice museum!
We were in Grand Rapids with our two art-loving daughters, ages 8 and 12, who both requested to visit this museum. We spent five happy hours perusing art, got in on a docent tour of the graphic arts exhibit, and tried our hand at print making in the basement. Everyone who worked there was very friendly and helpful. Our docent went above and beyond in our opinion. We wish we had known that there was no food available for sale in the museum. We were unwilling to leave to go to a nearby restaurant because it would detract from our time available to look at the art. They do, however, have a sitting area if you want to bring your own snacks. (Next time!) My girls' only "complaint" was that they wished there was more art; however, we visit art museums in whatever city we travel through, so they have been to some very large ones that would be impossible to see in one day. For the location and the price, I thought it was more than adequate. It was a beautiful building with thought-provoking exhibits. Great day.

The docents here were outstanding in terms of explaining in depth the various works here. Both contemporary and traditional art here. Tuesday afternoon from 1-5 p.m.is free admission day! Gift shop is very nice as well. No food services on site, but plenty of restaurants all around the museum. Well worth a visit!
