Ecellent location downtown just across river from the Museum.
Excellent service, knwledgeable and curteous staff.
Dinner in the restaurant was great, very good selection of meals available.. Service excellent
Brakfast buffet was excellent also.
Very nice spacious rooms.. mine was overlooking the city, but others overlook river..
Form a cost perpective this is getting toward expensive so the service should reflect that, and it does..
I would say there again..

Impressed
A newer hotel, the JW Grand is an excellent choice for a hotel in Grand Rapids. We only stayed one night as we were in town for a wedding. We did not eat at the hotel, but loved our room.
What we liked:
1. Clean - I am very picky. The room and bathroom were very clean, just what you want when staying in a hotel. The hallway and common areas were also very clean.
2. Comfortable bed and each side had a reading light.
3. Great view with lots of windows.
4. Decor is very artsy, with colorful paintings. Carpet and furnishings look new. Large mirror in room area was helpful for getting ready for a wedding, as we didn't have to do everything in the bathroom.
5. Bathroom is awesome! Large double headed shower and nice separate tub.
6. Large wardrobe.
7. Nice flat screen television.
8. Elevators runs smoothly and quickly
9. Courteous reception desk staff.
Extra touches: Robes, mini-fridge, coffee maker, iron, all in the room.
Parking: Self parking is available in adjoining structure for $16. Very easy in and out using your room key. Just let them know you parked there when you check in. Valet service is also available if you prefer, not sure the cost as we like to self-park.
I highly recommend and it will be our first choice if we stay in Grand Rapids again.

Best Hotel We Have Found In GR
We stayed here over Memorial Day weekend. I was worried when we pulled up because it was very busy with several weddings. I thought we might be in for a noisy night. But everything for the most part was very quiet. Check in was great. Everything in the room was very clean, and I white glove everything when I go to hotels! The room was a nice size, and the bathroom had both a shower and tub, both very clean and nice. The workout room was great. It's open 24 hours, and had several pieces of cardio, and both free weights and weight machines, plus an area to do sit-ups and such. All of the equipment was nice and new.
We had appetizers at one the the restaurants in the hotel. It was fine, not the best but not the worst.
The one complaint I would have is at about 9:30 Sunday morning, window washers came around. They were kind of loud and just startled us. You don't expect people to come hanging in front of your window first thing in the morning. I thought the hotel could have told us at check in about the window washers just to make us aware of it. I also think the hotel is a little overpriced by maybe $30-$40. Grand Rapids is nice but it's not Chicago. We paid over what we we would pay in Chicago. that being said we would stay here again.

Great for a special evening
This was our first stay at the JW Marriott in Grand Rapids. Our room faced the river and we had a great view of the museum and carrousel across the way. The valet service (coming and going) was very quick and we appreciated the professional staff at the front desk. The bathroom was a very good size with a separate enclosed glass shower and large soaking tub. We liked the adjustable shower head for those of varying heights. My only complaint would be there was no full length mirror which was a bit odd since there was certainly room for one. Regardless, we felt special and well taken care of. The wall of windows, the materials used in construction, the modern vibe of the area made it a great choice for a special evening.

Best place to stay in Grand Rapids
I have stayed in many hotels in Grand Rapids and can say with confidence that the JW Marriott is by far the best hotel in the city. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and decorated tastefully. The bathrooms have a large, modern shower and a separate deep soaking tub. Room service is great and delivers on time. The hotel location is convenient to the DeVos Center, and you can eat at the hotel or the many close restaurants. There is a skywalk that you can use to get around town in the winter to avoid the cold, snowy weather.
