Each year, around 2000 educators, authors, illustrators, students and others who have a passion for literacy gather for the Michigan Reading Association annual conference.

The event features workshops, breakout sessions, nationally acclaimed speakers and programs for students.

Most years that conference takes place in Grand Rapids, Michigan at the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel and DeVos Place convention center. Michigan State University Professor Dr. Patricia Edwards has been attending for more than 20 years.

“It’s an opportunity for practitioners, researchers, and even policymakers to come together to talk about how Michigan children become better readers and writers,” she said.

“It’s a week where we collaborate, we meet and greet old friends and new friends. I would say that you're missing out on a hidden treasure.”
