Farmers Market Update

After 14 seasons of lively farmers markets held on campus, we are sorry to announce this initiative is no longer sustainable. Because of the inability to operate during the COVID-19 pandemic, we lost many vendors to other markets in the area or retirement.

For the upcoming season, the focus will shift to providing more options for students, faculty and staff by expanding farm shares and farm share services. The Sustainable Agriculture Project (SAP) will continue to offer farm shares to the GVSU community, now including half shares at a lower cost. Farm share delivery will be complimentary to people on the Allendale Campus; farm share pick-up will continue to be offered on the Pew Grand Rapids Campus. This shift of focus will not impact weekly SAP donations to Replenish.

This fall, the SAP will partner with local vendors and Laker Food Co. to offer an expanded farm stand by the Cook Carillon Tower. Lunches will be available for purchase in this same space, offered by Laker Food Co. or a vendor.
