The Grand River Wood Turner's Guild was formed in 2010 by members of the West Michigan Wood Turners and currently includes 74 members. Woodturning is a type of woodworking that creates wooden objects using a lathe. The guild meets every third Saturday of every month at East Kentwood High School. Unlike retail galleries, Grand Valley Artists is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving nearly 300 member artists. GVA is the oldest and largest artist organization in West Michigan. The Kendall Galleries feature contemporary exhibitions and a dynamic annual speaker series. Site:Lab organizes site-specific art exhibitions and projects in vacant commercial and industrial spaces in Grand Rapids. Featuring the work of art students, faculty, and alumni, Site:Lab events are generally open only for a single night and involve performance art, video projections, and site-specific installations that can only be viewed in person, thereby offering the excitement of a live performance.
