Get in touch with true Americana - explore the small towns and agriculture of West Michigan!

Start at Fulton Street Farmers Market, just two miles from downtown, to browse and buy the bounty of our countryside: fresh-picked fruits and vegetables, plus homemade arts and crafts.

Head four miles east to Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park, which includes a Michigan Farm Garden complete with replicas of an 1880s farmhouse, barn, vegetable gardens and flowerbeds.

Four miles north is Robinette's Apple Haus & Winery, a century-old family farm that offers hayrides, hiking and mountain biking as well as a restaurant, bakery, cider mill and fresh-picked fruit.

Continue north about eight miles to Rockford, a quaint village with an award-wining shopping district plus biking/hiking/skating trails, canoeing/kayaking rivers, and numerous golf courses. Enjoy authentic sicilian food at Flo's Wood Fired Pizzeria or add your name to the "hot dog hall of fame" at The Corner Bar.

Sparta is a classic American small town located 20 minutes west of Rockford. Main Street is lined with homegrown shops and restaurants that make everyone feel welcome, and family-festivals abound all year long.

Sparta is on the Fruit Ridge, one of the world's prime fruit-growing regions. Approximately 8 miles wide by 20 miles long, it's dotted with farms and markets offering tours and fresh-picked (or pick-your-own) produce.

Pass acre upon acre of farmland on your way to Coopersville, 20 miles southwest of Sparta. Visit Coopersville Farm Museum and ride the historic Coopersville & Marne Railway.

Lowell is a historic town 20 miles east of Grand Rapids, featuring a charming riverfront shopping center and abundant recreation opportunities. It's also the national headquarters of North Country Trails, a system that passes right through downtown Lowell.

Back to Grand Rapids for a tour of Blandford Nature Center, a 264-acre nature preserve, or Millennium Park, a vast urban green space with miles of trails for hiking, biking and blading along the Grand River. Both less than five miles from downtown.

Top off your day at one of the many farm-to-fork restaurants that source local ingredients from our countryside farms.
