Every year, Experience Grand Rapids partners with other local businesses to host a reception for area newcomers, community connectors and rising leaders.

It’s our job to market Grand Rapids as a welcoming and inclusive destination for all visitors. That starts with helping to make it welcoming and inclusive for its residents.

A Grand Welcome is our way to reach out to newcomers – especially minority residents – and facilitate connections that will improve their lives, their careers and their sense of belonging. This strengthens the fabric of our community and makes Grand Rapids more appealing for residents and visitors alike.

Should I Attend A Grand Welcome?

A Grand Welcome is open to:

Newcomers.

People who’ve relocated to Grand Rapids within the past two years. We want  you to know we’re glad you’re here – and we want to provide you a space to connect to the resources and people that will help you continue to transition into the community you now call home!

Community Connectors.

Individuals, entrepreneurs, businesses, and community or religious organizations that serve as a resource to newcomers. We want to recognize your contribution!

Rising Leaders.

Publicly elected/appointed officials and people who have been promoted to a position of Vice President or higher in the past year (since January 1). We want to celebrate your success!

What Can I Expect?

The opportunity to meet people who can make a difference in your life – and also enjoy beverages, hors d’oeuvres, door prizes and other fun surprises.
