As you may have heard, 2022 was a record year for visitorship in Kent County. While our region has certainly earned a reputation as a fantastic place to visit, we can’t rest on our laurels. It takes a continuous, creative and smart marketing effort to keep Grand Rapids and Kent County top-of-mind and drive strong numbers year after year.
EXGR is ramping up several campaigns to keep the momentum going and bring visitors back to Kent County this summer.
First, “Flights of Flavor,” which launches in June, will build on our Beer City brand and take our destination to the next level. Not only will area food and beverage businesses still offer amazing beer flights, but they’ll showcase other craft beverages and foods served “flight style”. EXGR will be encouraging food and beverage fans to download the digital pass, check in when they order a “Flight of Flavor” at participating businesses and earn points for fun merchandise. It’s a new way to experience the destination.
Next, Experience Grand Rapids invites families to “Play Their Way,” with endless options for activity, discovery, creativity and entertainment. Whether they're looking for scenic bike trails, a Grand River kayaking excursion or a day of play at the Grand Rapids Children's Museum or John Ball Zoo, a family-friendly adventure awaits.
And who hasn’t told a friend that “we need to get together soon?” Well, Grand Rapids is the perfect place to turn that hope for a future connection into a reality today. “Grand Rapids: Where Soon Happens Sooner” is a marketing campaign designed to drive visitorship in Kent County. Planning a trip to Grand Rapids is easy to plan and GR is a great place to get together.
EXGR worked with Pure Michigan to produce an all-new TV commercial that encourages visitors to take a fresh take for their Pure Michigan trip with a visit to Grand Rapids. The new ad started airing April 10 for a five-week national run with an estimated 20 million national impressions!
And speaking of commercials, we were excited to partner with Ideology Productions to create our new “Feeling Good” commercial. This is the sequel to last year’s Dream Grand and Go commercial that recently accepted a West Michigan ADDY award for the video. Look for yourself!
The talented team with Ideology Productions have also been assisting our team with creating an all-new national convention sales video. This video targets the national meeting planner and showcases how they have the “power” to plan their perfect meeting in our destination. Our meeting sales team is excited to begin sharing this new visual tool with meeting planners all over the country.
