(Grand Rapids, MI)   An exciting new animal show is coming to John Ball Zoo!  The Realm of Flight will be in residence at John Ball Zoo from May 27, 2017 -Sept. 4, 2017.   The show will feature 10 amazing birds, each demonstrating their own eye-popping talent.  The bald eagles will swoop overhead in free flight.  The Seriema, will show off a fascinating hunting technique and kids will get a kick out of the Raven, who happily accepts a donation from your hand and deposits it in a box. 
The Realm of Flight bird show comes to the Zoo from WORLD BIRD SANCTUARY, known internationally as a first-class bird conservation organization.  Its founder, Walter Crawford, started the Sanctuary in 1977 with the support of the then St. Louis Zoo Director, Marlin Perkins.  The WBS is dedicated to the propagation, rescue, rehabilitation and preservation of birds – especially birds of prey.  
The feathered stars of Realm of Flight include: 

 - Harris Hawk              
 - Bald Eagle 
 - Black Vulture
 - Red-legged Seriema
 - White-necked Raven
 - African Gray Parrot
 - European Barn Owl
 - Bateleur Eagle
 - Red-tailed Hawk          
 - White-bellied Stork

Realm of Flight will be presented three times a day in an all new amphitheater built in the Forest Realm near the Amur tigers.  The Zoo is expecting the addition of the bird show will make for a fun, educational, and thrilling summer!
