Paul Collins Retrospective Art Show on display in DeVos Place®
Work of accomplished Grand Rapids artist will be shown through end of 2017
Grand Rapids — Grand Rapids has the opportunity to view the work of esteemed, internationally recognized artist Paul Collins in SMG-managed DeVos Place through December 29, 2017. Pieces are on display on the Skywalk level of the convention center’s Grand Gallery.
The exhibition is open to the public Monday through Sunday from 8 AM – 5 PM.
Collins, a native of Grand Rapids, has had works on display in DeVos Place on two past occasions during ArtPrize and is known for his ability to capture and celebrate human dignity and the diversity of cities, nations, and global communities worldwide. His drawings and paintings have been exhibited around the world, from the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. to the Pushkin Museum in Moscow.
Among many commissioned collections and exhibitions, Collins also designed the Martin Luther King, Jr. Peace Prize Medal, the National Physical Fitness Poster for the Carter administration, and the NASA space shuttle emblem. He was named one of the Top Twenty Figurative Artists by Watson-Guptill Publications in 1978 and a Michigan Treasure by the State of Michigan in 2002. The Grand Rapids Community College Art Gallery was named in his honor, and he was selected to commemorate “The Reintegration of Pro Football” for the NFL Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, OH, in 2016.
