The William Kelley Marks Lucy (WKML) Foundation is proud to present the Wil Lucy Celebration – A Girls Rock! Grand Rapids Fundraising Event. The event will benefit Girls Rock! Grand Rapids (GR!GR), a program of the Grandville Avenue Arts & Humanities organization. It will take place on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at 8:30pm at The Pyramid Scheme on Commerce SW. This benefit concert will feature four Grand Rapids local bands, two of which Wil Lucy played bass, and a performance by GR!GR!

The WKML Foundation is a third-party organization raising awareness, funds, and participants for GR!GR. William Lucy, better known as Wil Lucy, was a local musician with a passion to help others in the Grand Rapids community. After Wil’s sudden passing in 2015, his family and friends created this foundation to carry his legacy, love for music, and community representation. GR!GR is a week-long summer program that exists to empower girls and women through music. The camp takes place each year at the Cook Arts Center, and the participating girls receive music/instrument lessons, workshops, formation of a band, learn songwriting skills, develop logos and album art, and more. It is a volunteer-run camp that provides safe and empowering spaces for young women to learn, explore, and create together.

Musical Itinerary:
Girls Rock! Grand Rapids – The local chapter band will open the show to highlight the success of the 2016 program.
The War Between – This two-piece synth, punk, electro, goth band features Colin Clive (Mustard Plug) and Josh Stacey (The Bloody Lips, Cosmonaut).
Semi-Casual Bedtime – Local rock band which Wil Lucy was the bassist.

Thunder Chicken – Local rock band, most well known in the late 90s/early 00s, which Wil Lucy also was the bassist.
