Rules of Play

Start:

Shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. from assigned holes.

Format:

This is a four-player scramble. Each player tees off, then the best shot is chosen, and all players hit from within one club length of that spot (no closer to the hole). This is repeated until the ball is in the hole. Note: A ball may not be removed from the rough or a hazard using the one club length rule.

Mulligans:

Mulligans will be available for purchase, before the shotgun start, at golfer check-in for $10 a piece (2 per person/cap of 8 per team). Cash or credit card will be accepted. Experience Grand Rapids will match the money collected from mulligans, and 100% of the proceeds will go to the Richard A. Winn Michigan Lodging and Tourism Association Scholarship. Your contribution will assist students with the cost of their education, increase awareness of careers in hospitality and tourism management, and promote diversity in the field.

Tees:

Men shall tee off from the BLUE tees, women shall tee off from the SILVER tees.

Speed of Play Bogey Maximum Rule:

The pace of play is VERY important! The object is to have fun, but please keep up with the group ahead of you. No foursome should be behind the group ahead by more than one (1) hole, so please select and line up your shots as quickly as possible. There is a bogey maximum rule in place for each hole to assist in the pace of play; therefore, no matter where you are in the hole once you reach bogey, please pick up your ball and move to the next hole.

Putting Out:

Select the best shot to play and mark the spot. “Tap-Ins” are allowed to maintain the pace of play; however, your remaining players (if any) may still record the lower score if the ball is holed from the original distance. If the first tap-in is missed, the next shot must be marked unless holed out.

No Show Rule:

If by chance one of your scheduled foursomes is unable to play today and we are unable to replace them with another golfer, each of the three remaining golfers should rotate playing a second ball on each hole. Example: Golfer #1 plays two balls on Hole #1, Golfer #2 plays two on Hole #2, Golfer #3 plays two on Hole #3, then repeat for subsequent holes. This will allow your team to have the same amount of shots on each hole as all other teams.

Conclusion of Play:

Upon completion of your 18th hole of play, please proceed to the clubhouse for the awards reception. DO NOT PLAY YOUR WAY IN, as the awards presentation is scheduled to take place at 4:00 p.m.
