Restaurant Week GR gives diners a chance to explore local cuisine with unique and tasty choices at great prices on August 9 – 20. Thanks to the addition of lunch this year, you can close your kitchen and discover great food at over 70 area restaurants throughout the Greater Grand Rapids area.

For eight years, Restaurant Week GR has given diners an opportunity to enjoy a specially prepared, three-course dinner for only $28. But why should dinner have all the fun? New this year, over 25 restaurants will offer two-course lunches for just $14.

"We have successfully promoted Restaurant Week dinners for the past seven years, and felt that it was time to add something new!" says Kate Herron, Director of Marketing at Experience Grand Rapids. "The great lunch deals can be enjoyed by friends, families, and co-workers throughout the 12-day event. With lunch having a lower price point, we encourage diners to enjoy the offerings of Restaurant Week GR multiple times at a variety of restaurants."

Out to Lunch... In for a Treat

Adding lunch to Restaurant Week GR gives even more opportunities to enjoy local restaurants. Want to impress an out-of-town client? Go to lunch. Got a date but not sure they're “dinner-worthy?” Go out to lunch. Got a smaller appetite? You are sure to leave satisfied after two courses instead of stuffed after three with the new lunch option. The addition of earlier dining times also allows those who commute to Grand Rapids for work a way to spice up their lunch break and take advantage of great prices on delicious food.

These exclusive Restaurant Week GR lunches highlight the talent and creativity of local chefs and are truly something special. The best part of this foodie-centric week is that customers still have choices. Many restaurants offer two or more options for each course allowing you to customize your meal experience. Many of these restaurants also feature vegan and gluten-free options. Because these options are new to the menu, Restaurant Week GR is a great time to change up your order at your regular dining spot.

You might ask, “What can you get for only $14?” How about a first course of marinated shrimp salad followed by grilled ratatouille flatbread with freshly made mozzarella, grilled vegetables, and topped with feta and fresh basil at Atwater Brewing? Maybe you’re more interested in starting with chilled corn pozole then diving into a ssam lettuce wrap featuring charred beef brisket and pickled charred scallions served at Wheelhouse Kitchen & Cocktails. Either way, your stomach and your wallet will both be full.

Do Lunch & Do Good

Restaurant Week GR isn’t just about feeding hungry customers. Did you know $1 from every meal sold goes toward the Secchia Institute for Culinary Education Student Scholarship Fund at Grand Rapids Community College? Since the launch of Restaurant Week GR in 2010, the fund has received over $110,000 in donations that directly benefit future chefs. This means every Restaurant Week GR meal not only supports local chefs, but you also support the future of Grand Rapids culinary landscape.

Whether you would like to enjoy lunch on the outside patio at Rose’s on Reeds Lake, take in some hand-crafted pizza at Rocket Pies in the Downtown Market, or try out the new Matchbox Diner & Drinks, Restaurant Week GR has you covered.
