Go rock hounding right here in Grand Rapids! The Indian Mounds Rock & Mineral Club put on a Gem and Mineral Show every year over spring break in Rogers Plaza Town Center. This is a huge treat for kids and families because of the children's table. Kids get to choose their own special rock collection while interacting with knowledgeable volunteers, all for under a dollar.
This year, the Gem and Mineral Show runs April 6–8. Hours are: Thursday 9:30AM-9PM, Friday 9:30AM–9PM, Saturday 9:30AM–7PM.

From April 3–7, the Grand Rapids Public Museum will have hands-on activities and take home crafts available at the GRPM related to both the Whales: Giants of the Deep and Creatures of Light exhibits. These activities will be free with admission.
In addition to the special exhibits at the museum, you'll also want to check out the planetarium, ride the carousel and explore the streets of old Grand Rapids while you're there. Plan for at least a half a day of fun at GRPM – but our family likes to eat in the cafe and make a day of it!

Every year during spring break, the Grand Rapids Ballet puts on a show at Peter Martin Wege Theatre that's geared toward kids and costs just $5.
