The segue from fall into winter can present a mixed bag of emotions. It’s exciting and bustling – after all there's a new year to look forward to – but also it can be stressful and overwhelming. Here are a few ideas to help keep you grounded, healthy and rested.

Get Moving

Winter means it can get difficult to play outside or find the motivation to bundle up and drive to the gym. A change of pace might be what you need recharge your exercise routine or start a new one.

You know what they say: if you look good, you feel good. Take care of yourself so that you can focus the rest of the season. Book an appointment at for a new ‘do at Bang Blow Dry Bar and Salon. Revive your hands and feet with manicure or pedicure at Chasing Vanity Salon. For the ultimate treatment of R&R, check into a room at the JW Marriott Grand Rapids and treat yourself to a beer-infused spa treatment. Shop, Sip or Create

Date night, girls’ night, family night, or solo night – there are plenty of opportunities to have some fun – holiday or otherwise – around town. Head to Books and Mortar for their Grown-Up Story Time, which happens the first Friday of every month. It’s the perfect way to reconnect with your inner child and has the added benefit allowing you to bring your favorite adult beverage with you. Or try focusing your creative energies into making something new during a painting session at Brush Studio. In need of inspiration? A visit to the Christmas and Holiday Traditions Around the World exhibit at the Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park or the Merry Christmas Charlie Brown! exhibit at the Grand Rapids Public Museum are sure to get the creative juices flowing.
