Events Manager
aka Architect of Activities
Sydney is responsible for making sure Experience Grand Rapids events come together flawlessly – no small feat, given that the data driving these events changes daily, if not hourly. Her secret weapon? “Precision guesswork” honed during her stints as Event Coordinator at DeVos Place Convention Center and Supervisor at 20 Monroe Live (now GLC Live at 20 Monroe), two of the region’s largest event venues.
A graduate of Grand Valley State University (where she earned degrees in Hospitality and Tourism Management and Spanish Modern Language and Literature), Sydney joined our staff in 2021. “I enjoy coordinating behind-the-scenes details and then watching it all come together in person,” she says. “Partaking in tangible experiences is priceless.”
Bio Bits:
- Is known to partake of a hot chicken sandwich at Hancock, before or after a stroll around Eastown.
- Favorite local beverage is Mango Gold, a fruit beer from The Mitten Brewing Co.
- Urges visitors to ride the John Ball Zoo tram up to the Bissell Treehouse for a panoramic view of the city.
Sydney is a big fan of using SPIN/LIME scooters to get “just about anywhere” in the city – including her old stomping grounds, GLC Live at 20 Monroe, which presents a diverse roster of entertainment “in an intimate setting where there’s no bad seat in the house.”
