Diversify Your Company and Our Cool City

Experience Grand Rapids invites you to participate in an initiative to increase diversity in the local hospitality and tourism management (HTM) industry, as well as within the greater Grand Rapids community. Discover Tourism GR is a career exploration trip for minority college students seeking HTM degrees.

In this first year of the program, we are hosting up to 12 students from Morehouse College, one of the nation’s top Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), for an all-expenses paid trip to Grand Rapids in November.

These students will attend the Michigan Hospitality Education Alliance (MIHEA) Career and Internship Fair*, meet with key stakeholders from the community, including HTM professionals, at a networking reception, and take part in tours and experiences that showcase Grand Rapids as a fun, friendly place to build a career … and a life.

We are launching this initiative to attract talented job candidates to the area, diversify the local talent pool and increase minority participation in these high-profile sectors of our community. We are inviting you to participate by becoming a partner of Discover Tourism GR – your investment gives you access to our student resume database as well as the opportunity to sponsor a student and/or host a meal or event during the trip.

If you are interested in one of these partnerships opportunities, please reach out to Angela Nelson. We look forward to working with you!
