Jennifer Muñoz, a local journalist, community organizer, and associate state director of the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) - Michigan, presents “The Benefits of AARP Membership” on Thursday, Jan. 25, 2018 at 2 p.m. The program is hosted by Covenant Village of the Great Lakes, a faith-based senior living community located at 2510 Lake Michigan Dr., N.W., Grand Rapids.
Muñoz explains how to optimize your health, security, finances, career and volunteer opportunities through membership offered by AARP, a non-partisan organization focusing on those ages 50 and older.
As the associate state director of AARP-Michigan, Muñoz leads a team of AARP volunteers to engage in community events and educational presentations related to financial security, social security, work at 50-plus and Life Reimagined. She is a journalist for various media outlets, including “Faith Grand Rapids” and “West Michigan Woman” magazines and WOTV 4, for which she educates and inspires the Grand Rapids community about issues and opportunities related to the encore years.
The Grand Rapids resident has a bachelor’s degree in broadcasting and cinematic arts from Central Michigan University, a master’s degree in management from Aquinas College, and is certified in aging from Grand Rapids Community College. Muñoz is in the process of writing her first book.
