In tribute of Black History Month, Grand Rapids will host its 12th annual Grand Rapids Legacy Luncheon on Monday, February 5th, 2019 at Venue3Two. We invite your organization to take part and embrace the Grand Rapids Legacy Luncheon, as we commemorate the scholarship recipients, recognize community leaders, and celebrate community at this event.

Last year, we were delighted to have Emmy Award-winning journalist/television personality, author, and ninth generation descendent to President Thomas Jefferson, Mr. Shannon Lanier.
This year, our keynote speaker is the First Woman Chief Houston METRO Police Department and 42nd President of National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives, Vera Bumpers.

Although the Legacy Events originated as a small community gathering to celebrate National Black History Month, it has advanced communities in the following areas:

· Has awarded more than $110,000 to students in scholarships across the State of Michigan
· Honors outstanding community leaders and business partners
· Utilizes minority-owned businesses and services to assist in making this signature event a continued success
· Encourages diversification from local communities to participate in the richness of Black History Month with the theme:
“Black History is Everybody’s History”

Highlights Include:

· Student Scholarships
· Keynote Speaker – Vera Bumpers, First Women Chief of Houston METRO Police Department, 42nd President of National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives
· Encouraging community participation with the theme: “Black History is Everybody’s History”
· Networking
· Souvenir Event Booklet
