West Michigan’s 3rd Annual Community ‘Event with a Cause’ goes to the beach this year. Hosted at Holland State Park by Battle of the Gains (GAINS) on Sat., August 25, this exciting Sports Tournament and Expo Show is open to athletes of all ages. Spectators, families, friends, visitors and community members are all encouraged to join in the fun.
Besides watching contests in beach basketball, volleyball and football, the public can browse through an Expo of business and community services, play games, go on a scavenger hunt or try yoga in the sand. There will also be food, music and lots of community spirit.
“Admission is free for everyone – athletes and onlookers alike,” says Billy Gains founder of GAINS. “We put on this event each year to promote healthy living,” he explains. “Our organization’s goal is to motivate people to improve their lives.”
This year’s theme is On The Rebound, named after a recently released book about finding life’s purpose. The book was co-authored by Gains and Susan Maciak, local business owner and communications consultant. Copies will be available for purchase at the event.
