A Chair Affair

Arts in Motion Studio (expressive arts for people with disabilities) announce 11 / 15 / 17 as date of wildly popular fundraising event!

GRAND RAPIDS, MI (August 17, 2017) – Arts in Motion Studio, the non-profit organization dedicated to enriching both the community and the lives of individuals with disabilities through expressive arts, will hold their largest annual community engagement and fundraising event, THE CHAIR AFFAIR, on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at the Richard App Gallery at 910 Cherry Street, SE. Doors open at 6:30 PM and the live auction starts at 8 PM!

THE CHAIR AFFAIR is essentially a lively celebration of community and arts highlighting the students’ work. Set around an energetic live auction of 15 chairs, repurposed to be both functional and unique pieces of art – all painted and decorated by local artists and business, including the Arts in Motion student artists – THE CHAIR AFFAIR also creates a venue for student-created artwork to be sold, offering attendees many affordable, one-of-a-kind holiday gifts! Additionally, there will be a silent auction of unique artwork, hand-made quilts, gift cards, and many items donated by local businesses. Also, Arts in Motion Studio’s signature performance group, Living Light Dance Company, will perform throughout the night to spirit the festive occasion, at which will be served wine and a host of tasty appetizers!

“It’s a great way to showcase local artists,” says Delight Lester, founder and executive director of Arts in Motion. “It also allows the community to give back to a great organization in a fun way.” Richard App added, “There are a lot of great causes you can get behind in Grand Rapids, but being an East Hills fan and neighbor to Arts in Motion, this cause is near and dear to my heart.”

The event is open to the public and free, but donations are greatly appreciated. The holiday shopping season will be in full swing so this is a great opportunity to support an amazing local charity and get some holiday shopping done!

Arts in Motion Studio is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. For more information, please visit their website, www.artsinmotionstudio.org. You can also follow Arts in Motion Studio on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for the most up-to-date information about this event and more!
