Join the GRPM, Speciation Ales and Field & Fire on Thursday, June 22 for Beer, Bread and Fermentation!
Participants will taste 3 different Speciation Ales with 3 different Field & Fire breads. The breads will be made with a normal sourdough starter as well as starters from the yeast and bacteria of the beers that we are tasting! Participants will have the unique experience to see how the same yeast and bacteria are used in beer and bread production, as well as see the growth of the bacteria in petri dishes.
This exclusive and rare class will not only provide 3 Speciation Ales, but bread from Field & Fire made from the yeast and bacteria of the ales. Speciation Ales only puts out one beer a month on a special Saturday release. This is your chance to taste 3 beers at once – a unique opportunity, only available to 40 participants for the June Beer Explorers at the GRPM!
June Beer Explorers will be presented by Mitch Ermatinger, Speciation co-founder, discussing the unique process they have developed for production, and Shelby Kibler, Field & Fire owner and chef, discussing the fermentation in breads.

Speciation Artisan Ales – At Speciation Artisan Ales, an evolutionary approach is taken to brewing using wild microbes to experiment with the possibilities of craft beer. The results are delicious, high-quality and ever-changing beers that reflect nature’s creativity and diversity. The name Speciation comes from the scientific term describing how biological variations in nature create new species over time, much like the evolution of our beers. Speciation artisan ales are only available as a monthly bottle release.Field & Fire – Passionate about fermentation, Field & Fire is composed of bakers, which means fermenting grains into breads and pastries. By honoring a long-standing tradition of lengthy fermentation that draws out the flavor from grains and flours and also enhances the nutritional value of our baked goods.
