This body of work is a visual representation of reactions created with paint on canvas. The base layers were thrown down quickly, furiously, and emotionally. Those initial marks were thoughtfully planned around, erased, and responded to with forms and colors. A compilation of pre-meditated and split second thinking came together in this ongoing circle of reaction and rebuilding to create each painting. The individual pieces were made in response to one another, being painted simultaneously and collaborating with one another. With this body of work I strive to communicate and connect over the emotions each day brings and how we can have constructive and expressive responses to them.
Audrey Ferris is a painter living and working in Grand Rapids, Michigan. A graduate of Michigan State University, she earned her BFA in Art Education with a Specialization in painting in 2015. When not working as the Visual and Resource Coordinator at Via Design, Inc., Audrey is painting in her studio or reading in a coffee shop somewhere near by. Her abstract paintings are inspired by nature and responses to daily life, created with an eagerness to evoke a response from their viewers. You can find her work on display at The Winchester as well as Lions and Rabbits art gallery in Grand Rapids.
