When their wealthy half-brother cheats them of their fortune, the Dashwood sisters are left impoverished. They relocate to chilly Barton Cottage, but not before Elinor falls for the kind-hearted, yet unavailable Edward Ferrars. When a handsome hero on horseback sweeps impulsive Marianne off her feet, she, too, loses herself in the hope of romance. Heartbreak shadows the Dashwood sisters before the hope of true love finds them at last.
