Taking place on Friday, May 11, 2018, our Festival Day is a highlight for all who participate. ACT welcomes nearly 1,000 special education students each year on this special day celebrating all arts and all abilities. Festival Day gives students a chance to share their inner world and make connections with the world around them – providing opportunities for growth, confidence-building, and self-expression. Students experience a series of hands-on art workshops in a variety of art forms including dance, painting, drumming, singing, and mixed media.
Each fall, ACT invites special education classrooms, kindergarten through transition, in Kent County to apply to attend Festival Day. Prior to applying, teachers are required to attend an orientation meeting to be eligible. Meetings take place throughout the Grand Rapids area each fall for the upcoming May. If you would like to bring your classroom, please contact our Program Coordinator to learn more.
