Grand Rapids Symphony’s Nights in the Gardens of Spain

The perfumes of the Gardens of the Alhambra seem to waft through Manuel de Falla’s Nights in the Gardens of Spain.” The Grand Rapids Symphony welcomes legendary pianist Nelson Freire for the eighth concert in the Richard and Helen DeVos Classical Series at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, April 13-14, 2018, in DeVos Performance Hall, 303 Monroe Ave. NW.
Music Director Marcelo Lehninger will lead the Grand Rapids Symphony in Brazilian composer Heitor Villa-Lobos’ Momoprecoce. The superb Grand Rapids Symphony Chorus opens and closes the program with the orchestra in Debussy’s ethereal Nocturnes and Villa-Lobos’ Choros No. 10, Rasga o Coracao or “It Tears Your Heart.”
