Grand Rapids Symphony’s The 20th Century Concert: Copland, Stravinsky & Shostakovich

Grand rapids Symphony presents “The 20th Century Concert: Copland, Stravinsky & Shostakovich, the fourth and final program in the Crowe Horwath Great Eras series at 8 p.m. Friday, March 30, 2018. Hear Grand Rapids Symphony trumpeter Charley Lea performing Shostakovich’s Concerto for Piano, Trumpet, and String Orchestra plus a Gilmore Young Artist of the Irving S. Gilmore International Keyboard Festival as piano soloist. Music director Marcelo Lehninger leads the orchestra in music of the first half of the 20th century in St. Cecilia Music Center, 24 Ransom Ave. NE.

Highlights of the evening concert will be presented that morning for the Grand Rapids Symphony’s Porter Hills Coffee Classics series. The one-hour concert, held without intermission, begins at 10 a.m. Doors open at 9 a.m. for complementary coffee and pastry.
