Grand Rapids Symphony and Tito Puente, Jr.

Tito Puente, seven-time Grammy Award winner and Goodwill Ambassador of Latin American music gave the world such hits as Oye Como Va. The Puerto Rican percussionist dubbed “The King of Mambo” died in 2000. But his music lives on through his son, Tito Puente Jr. The D&W Fresh Market Picnic Pops celebrates the Afro-Cuban sounds of merengue, salsa and samba, supersized on a grand, symphonic scale with Associate Conductor John Varineau and the Grand Rapids Pops for one-night only at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 2. Gates open at Cannonsburg Ski Area at 5:45 p.m. Advance tickets start at $20 adults, $5 for children for lawn seats. All tickets are $5 more the day of the show.
