GV Shakespeare Festival presents The Tempest

GRAND VALLEY SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL AND THEATRE AT GRAND VALLEY PRESENT
The Tempest
SEPT 29–OCT 8
Written by William Shakespeare
Directed by Curt L. Tofteland, Festival Guest Artist
Love, betrayal, vengeance, forgiveness, redemption, and magic...Shakespeare wraps them all into what is believed to be his final, solo-written play.
Prospero, the exiled Duke of Milan and powerful sorcerer, has survived 12 years marooned on a remote island with his daughter Miranda, when the men who cheated him sail within reach of his fearful magic. He conjures a tempest that shipwrecks his enemies and leaves them at his mercy. But Miranda falls in love with a castaway prince, and Caliban and Ariel, the island’s native inhabitants, frighten and amaze the mariners. In the end, will Prospero exact his revenge or learn that “the rarer action is in virtue than in vengeance”?
