The 12th Annual History Detectives on Saturday, January 18, 2020, is day-long event in the auditorium of the Grand Rapids Public Library showcasing six 45-minute programs that explore the varied and unique heritage of our city. This year a consortium of area history organizations (https://subjectguides.grcc.edu/c.php?g=974571&p=7047100) will celebrate the centennial of the 19th amendment by launching a digital suffrage exhibit and illustrate how one house history uncovered decades of African American stories. Other programs range from an old plank road to Pokagon tribal removal strategy, from the planned neighborhood of Black Hills to the 1911 furniture strike. Admission is FREE, and you are welcome to come to one--or all--of the programs. But reserve ahead if you will want a box lunch! Full details here: https://subjectguides.grcc.edu/HistoryDetectives
