Join us for a special evening of when Morrison met Janis. Kosmic Mama & the Holding Co. & The Insane Theatre will share the stage for one night only! It will be a flashback 50 years to 1968 when protest were rampant, Vietnam War was at its peak and The Doors and Big Brother & the Holding Co. were releasing unforgettable music that is still relevant today.

Kosmic Mama & the Holding Co. is a tribute to Big Brother & the Holding Co. & Janis Joplin. This is a band of local all-star musicians who formed for the 1968 Tribute benefit show on June 8, 2018 at The Pyramid Scheme. They performed Big Brother & the Holding Co.'s "Cheap Thrills" in its entirety. Jamie Kosmicki (Kosmic Mama) is the only known singer in Grand Rapids that can channel Janis Joplin with such enthusiasm. Not only in her raspy, bluesy, vocals, but stage presence as well. The rest of the band (2 guitars: Brian Haik & Craig Patterson, bass: Mark Svekric and drums: Mark Jilbert) is a conglomerate of talented local musicians from other various bands including, Afro Zuma, Hazy Past, Oracle.

Originally formed in Tucson, Arizona in 2001. The Insane Theatre is now West Michigan's premier tribute to The Doors. In their theatrical performances you will be hearing a variety of popular tunes, as well as deep cuts not played on the radio. True to the tone of the 1960's and early 70's, the instrumentation would fit right in that time period. The Insane Theatre has a set up just like The Doors. Chris Kemler, the lead singer, channels the spirit of Jim Morrison in his voice and stage presence. Jim Prange, the keyboard player, holds down double duty of playing organ/keys and bass (& even back-up vocals), just like Ray Manzarek. Brian Haik, the guitarist, plays finger-style and blues/melodic slide as Robbie Krieger. JD Jones on drums is heavily influenced by jazz, with a style reminiscent of John Densmore.

Be transported back in time because the ceremony is about to begin, again. One night only! Kosmic Mama & the Holding Co. will get things shaking right at 9pm. $5 in advance, $7 day of (if not sold out)
