The Recycling and Education Center, located at 977 Wealthy St SW, Grand Rapids, MI 49504, is a critical part of how Kent County manages waste. This sorting facility, which is capable of processing 18 tons of recycling per hour, helps decrease the waste going to the landfill every year.

Come and tour our recycling facility for free! Every Monday from 1-5 PM, come enjoy open hours with various crafts, activities, and a chance to see the machinery as you wander along the viewing platform at your own pace. If a guided tour is more your style, schedule one at your convenience by calling 616-632-7920 or emailing recycle@kentcountymi.gov.

If you can’t make it to the Recycling and Education Center, we can come to you! Various programs such as Watch Your Waste, Packing a Waste Free Lunch, Paper or Plastic Debate, or your own topic can all be requested at no cost. And if you’re feeling creative after all of this reuse and recycling talk, we also offer three Ecokits to borrow and use at home: Recycled Crayons, Steel Can Lanterns, and Paper-Making.

We hope to see you soon at the Recycling and Education Center!
