This Halloween season, scare yourself silly with Theater Noir’s original adaptation of one of the oldest living American folk legends!
Sleepy Hollow the Play, based off of the short story The Legend of Sleepy Hollow by Washington Irving, is filled with multimedia effects, illusions, and a few laughs that bring to life a menacing moment in time for the villagers of this small Dutch settlement.
There is something strange about the new schoolmaster, Ichabod Crane. Baltus VanTassle’s war buddy Nicholas has gone missing. Maybrook, Baltus’ other war companion is dead. Katrina Van Tassel chooses the love of her life while the murders keep coming! And when a séance goes wrong, the Woman in White, Sleepy Hollow’s other famous ghost, makes a ghastly appearance. Is there something that Sleepy Hollow’s wealthiest landowner Baltus Van Tassel isn’t telling us?
Sleepy Hollow the Play is directed by Jay Harnish and features an ensemble cast of local theater veterans including Mary Brown, Dale Bales, Meagan Beitner, Ian Mockerman, Declan Maher, and Guy de la Fly. Rounding out the cast is a talented collection of local performers who’ve joined forces to form Grand Rapids’ newest theater company, Theater Noir.
Theater Noir’s production of Sleepy Hollow the Play, produced by Second Star Events, will run September 26th- 29th, and October 3rd- 6th at Dog Story Theater. Showtimes for Thursday-Saturday are 8:00pm with doors at 7:30pm. Sunday shows are at 7:00pm with doors at 6:30pm. There is a lockout at showtime due to production effects.
