The luck o’ the Irish is with you if you’re spending St. Patrick’s Day in Grand Rapids  – because we’ve got all sorts of wonderful ways to celebrate with friends and family.

Attend the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade in downtown GR before hitting Irish pubs like Flanagan’s, Quinn & Tuites and O’Toole’s Public House. Enjoy traditional Irish meals and green beers at select restaurants and breweries. Check out our nightlife venues for Irish bands and entertainment. Lace up your running and walking shoes for the annual Spectrum Health Irish Jig 5K.

Keep an eye out for green wings at the annual Fred & Dorothy Fichter Butterflies Are Blooming exhibition at Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park. Look for new green shoots while hiking area parks and nature centers. If the weather cooperates, you might even hit the greens at local golf courses!

The Irish were among the first immigrants to this area, coming here in the early 19th century to help dig canals along the Grand River, so Irish heritage is Grand Rapids heritage – and we go all out celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. Keep your social calendar open the week of March 17 and check back here starting in February for specific event details.
