Stories of Us: Transforming Communities Through Art

Opening reception: June 9 at 6-8 p.m., Exhibit runs from June 9 to September 3, M-F 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Weekends 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. FREE!

Meet urban artists Rubén Aguirre, Andy Bellomo, Miguel Del Real, and Sam Kirk -- each using their art as a means of creating community. In this exhibition they share individual works along with a collaborative, 3-D installation piece made for the SCA’s Gallery. Rubén, Andy, Miguel, and Sam believe art is a transformative tool. Their work encourages unity and their pieces reveal deep stories interwoven with optimism and a better understanding of people; their culture, their identity, and their circumstances. All four artists grew up in Chicago neighborhoods, and remain deeply committed to building community (both literally and metaphorically). All create Street Art as well as works for exhibitions and galleries.
