The Grand Rapids Art Museum and Grand Rapids Public Library have teamed up to present a fun outing for the whole family! Each program has a different theme, and include story time, mini family exhibition tours, and an art project. Programs are for families of all ages and last approximately 90 minutes.
February 21 - Story Time Tour: Road Trip Across the USA
Journey across American Landscapes in GRAM’s galleries! The Grand Rapids Public Library staff will read tales about traveling and sing songs inspired by the open road. Then, a docent guide will take families in search of unique features in American landscapes, along the way children will complete a road trip Bingo. Finally, head to GRAM Studio to create a work of art as a souvenir of your travels!
March 21 - Story Time Tour: Springtime Celebration
Flowers are always in bloom at GRAM! The Grand Rapids Public Library staff will read springtime stories and have families sing and dance to a special song. Then, a docent guide will take families on an interactive tour that explores gardens, sunshine, and animals featured in the artwork, children will search for clues to complete a springtime treasure hunt. Finally, head to GRAM Studio to create a work of art inspired by spring.
April 18 - Story Time Tour: Picture Perfect
This month the Grand Rapids Public Library will read books, sing songs, and teach families a dance that celebrates the stories of the past and present. Then, a docent guide will guide families through the galleries too explore portraits and solve mysteries of who the people featured in the artwork are and their unique story. Finally, head to the GRAM Studio to create a special work of art to take home!
May 16 - Story Time Tour: Art Safari
Animals have invaded GRAM! The Grand Rapids Public Library staff will read an animal-themed story and invite families to join in a special song and dance. Then, a GRAM docent will lead a safari expedition in search of animals big and small while families complete a scavenger hunt. Finally, head to GRAM Studio to create a unique work of art to remember your safari adventure!
