The Grand Rapids Art Museum isthe first LEED Gold Certified Art Museum in the world and is home to a permanent collection of more than 6,000 works of art dating from pre-history to the 20th century, including paintings, prints, photographs, decorative arts and sculpture. Changing exhibitions feature local, national and international artists. Galleries, auditoriums and even the entire museum are available for catered banquets, meetings and lectures. Special docent led tours can be prearranged.

    We’re excited to welcome you back to the Museum!

    GRAM is pleased to announce that we are reopening to the public on August 1, 2020. Though we’re eager for guests to explore the Museum again, there will be a number of changes to how we operate as we consider the health and safety of all visitors and staff.

    Member Appreciation Soft Opening: July 25, 28, and 30
    Public Opening: August 1

    Though things may be a bit different during your visit, GRAM remains committed to connecting people through art, creativity, and design, and keeping our guests and staff safe is the most important step to reopening our doors.

    Health and Safety Protocols

    Face Masks
    Everyone over the age of two will be required to wear face coverings at all times while in the building. GRAM defines an acceptable face covering as one that covers both the nose and mouth and wraps under the chin.

    Temperature Check
    Staff, guests, and volunteers will be required to submit to a temperature check upon entering the building.

    One-Way Traffic
    GRAM will temporarily operate with a one-way traffic flow to limit guests’ paths crossing as well as limit the number of physical touchpoints.

    Hand Sanitizer
    Hand sanitizer stations will be accessible at all entrances as well as in common gallery spaces. 

    Increased Cleaning
    Cleaning will be increased to include routine cleaning of all high traffic and high touch areas and surfaces as well as daily deep cleans when closed to the public.

    Contactless interactions at the Visitor Services desk

    We ask that guests limit their visit to no more than 2 hours.

    The Visitor Services item check will be temporarily closed. Please do not bring any large bags/items with you to the Museum.

    Closures
    Some areas, furniture, and interactive activities will be unavailable.

    *Meijer Free Tuesdays and Thursday Nights are made possible by the Meijer Foundation. This gift supports free admission for the public each Tuesday from 12 – 6 pm and Thursday Nights from 5 – 9 pm.

  • Getting Around the Venue: The Rosa Parks Circle entrance is accessed by a set of stairs and a ramp. The ramp has handrails along both sides of the ramp run. The entrance has a powered door with a push button.

    There are Men’s and Women’s multi-user style restrooms present. These restrooms have at least one accessible stall.
    The Rosa Parks Circle entrance Lobby has two levels. There are a set of steps and a ramp that provides access between the levels. The ramp is to the side of the Lobby and may be hard to find.

    The routes through the venue are wide and level.

    There are elevators present that provide access to all floors.

    The venue is well lit.

    There is chair and bench seating available.
